Masters of the Universe (2026) on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD

Formats and prices at a glance

Every price here was read off Amazon on October 20, 2026, the street date. Three of the four are discounted off list. The 4K Ultra HD is the pick for the best picture and bundles a Blu-ray disc too.

There is no paid digital edition to buy. The film is a Prime Video exclusive, included free with a membership, and it is not sold or rented on Apple TV, Fandango at Home or Google TV. Checked again on August 14, 2026: the only option on its Prime Video page is Play, included with Prime. That makes the disc the only way to own a copy, the only version that survives the title leaving Prime, the only one carrying the bonus features, and the only one running full Dolby Vision off the disc instead of a compressed stream.

The disc art

Official Amazon MGM Studios box art. The 4K and Blu-ray share the theatrical key art; the banner across the top marks the format.

Which edition should you buy?

• Standard 4K / Blu-ray / DVD. The three core retail editions, in the amaray case art shown above.
• Amazon exclusive 4K SteelBook. The collector edition at $46.99. Metal case, both the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray discs, plus a collectible mini-comic, the first issue of The Wings of Fate, the Dark Horse tie-in series that started in June. Sold only by Amazon in the US. Four more steelbooks exist overseas, in the UK, Germany and France. We compared all five.
• Walmart exclusive 4K. A fifth US edition. Single disc 4K at $33.96 with its own box art: a slipcover carrying Skeletor and interior case art carrying He-Man. Media Play News found it on shelves in street-date week and could not find it on walmart.com, by search or by scanning the barcode in the Walmart app, so it is in stores only.
• Slipcover edition. A slipcase variant also spotted on early retail listings.

For most collectors the 4K Ultra HD is the one to get: it carries the best picture and generally includes a Blu-ray copy in the same case. Choose the Blu-ray if you do not have a 4K player, the DVD for the budget option, and the steelbook or slipcover if you want the collector packaging.

Bonus features

Two special features, named in the release announcement and confirmed on the back of the 4K case, which lists them and stops:

• Behind-The-Scenes Promotional Gallery. Studio promotional material collected on the disc. About fifteen minutes, made up of twelve short pieces.
• Masters of Light: Skies of Eternia Drone Spectacle. A featurette on the drone show staged for the film's campaign. Three minutes.

Not on the disc, as of October 22, 2026: a director or cast commentary, deleted scenes, a full making-of documentary, or a gag reel. The SPECIAL FEATURES band on the back of the 4K case names the two titles above and nothing after them, and the two disc reviews published on street date each found the same two. One further featurette, reported as "Who is He-Man?", has circulated from a June reading of an early retail listing and never reached the finished disc.

The content specification strip on the packaging adds one line worth knowing before you buy: "Special Features are not in 4K or HDR and may not be in High Definition." We went through the first two disc reviews and what the box back settles on street date.

Technical specifications

The full disc specs, which most coverage of this release has not published. Confirmed by the Amazon MGM and Alliance Home Entertainment announcement and the blu-ray.com database entry.

One detail worth knowing before you choose a format: the press release names the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray as the editions carrying the bonus features. It does not mention the DVD. The 4K packaging, read on October 22, 2026, prints the full audio and subtitle specification and confirms the extra tracks that had only been visible on retailer listings: DTS-HD Master Audio in Parisian French, and Dolby Digital for the English descriptive track, Canadian French and Spanish, alongside the English Dolby Atmos.

When does it come out?

October 20, 2026. MGM and Alliance have confirmed the street date: Masters of the Universe came to 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, four and a half months after its June 5 theatrical opening and about three months after it began streaming free on Prime Video on July 22. All four editions are orderable. The standard 4K, the Blu-ray and the DVD were all quoting free delivery for Sunday, October 25 on street date; the Amazon exclusive SteelBook was quoting October 31 to November 4, so a collector who wants the metal case waits about a week and a half longer than everyone else. Walmart has a fifth edition of its own, a single-disc 4K at $33.96 in its own box art. It is in stores only: Media Play News could not find it on walmart.com by search, and the barcode returned nothing in the Walmart app.
