Every Masters of the Universe (2026) SteelBook, compared
Five steelbook editions exist across four territories, and only one of them includes the mini-comic. Here is what is in each box, what each one costs, when each one streets, and which is actually worth buying.
Updated October 20, 2026
The short answer. If you are in the United States, buy the Amazon exclusive at $46.99. It is the only edition with the collectible mini-comic, it ships free, and every other edition costs more once you add international shipping. It was quoting delivery for October 31 to November 4 on street date rather than that week, and it is the one US edition not discounted off list, so the standard 4K at $24.99 now undercuts it by $22 rather than $9. The one genuine reason to look elsewhere is the German Plaion Collector’s Edition, which adds a rigid slipcase, artcards and a poster, and it is not currently orderable.
All five editions at a glance
| Territory | Price | Street date | Discs | Extras in the box | Sold at |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| United States | $46.99 | October 20, 2026 | Two discs, 4K Ultra HD plus Blu-ray | Collectible mini-comic book | Amazon only |
| United Kingdom | £29.15 | October 19, 2026 | Two discs, 4K Ultra HD plus Blu-ray | None listed | HMV, Amazon UK, Rarewaves |
| Germany, standard | €34.99 | October 22, 2026 | Two discs, 4K Ultra HD plus Blu-ray | None listed | MediaMarkt, Saturn, Amazon.de, jpc, Thalia |
| Germany, collector | €59.99 | October 22, 2026 | Two discs, 4K Ultra HD plus Blu-ray | Rigid slipcase box, artcards and a poster | Plaion Pictures shop only |
| France | €34.99 | October 28, 2026 | Two discs, one UHD-100 plus one BD-50 | None listed | Fnac, Amazon.fr, Cultura, E.Leclerc |
The United States and United Kingdom rows were re-read on October 20, 2026, the US street date, at Amazon, Amazon UK and HMV. The German and French rows were last verified on August 14, 2026 against the retailers and the blu-ray.com database and have not been re-checked since, so treat those two prices as the August figures. Prices move, so check before you commit.
The one to buy in the US
Amazon exclusive 4K SteelBook, $46.99. Metal case, both the 4K Ultra HD and the Blu-ray discs, plus a collectible mini-comic book. The mini-comic is named in the Amazon MGM and Alliance press release, so it is a studio commitment rather than retailer copy.
Against the standard 4K Ultra HD at $37.99, you are paying $9 for the packaging and the comic. The film, the 4K presentation and the bonus features are identical.
Or take the standard 4K Ultra HD at $37.99 if the case does not matter to you. Full format breakdown on the disc page.
Edition by edition
United States: Amazon exclusive 4K SteelBook
The default buy for a US collector. It is the only edition with the mini-comic, it ships free, and it is the cheapest route to the film in 4K in a metal case without import shipping. On street date it was the only US edition not quoting delivery that week: Amazon put it at October 31 to November 4, against October 25 for the standard 4K, Blu-ray and DVD.
United Kingdom: UK retail 4K SteelBook
Widely stocked rather than exclusive to anyone, and the sellers share barcode 5061088923679, so it is one product with several sellers. Zavvi was the fourth of them until 12 October 2026, when BDO was appointed administrator and the site stopped trading with outstanding orders unfulfilled. HMV holds the 34.99 pound retail price and Amazon UK has it at 29.15 pounds, both in stock. No mini-comic. Worth importing only if you prefer the artwork.
Germany, standard: German retail 4K SteelBook
Plaion product number 1207221, explicitly not an exclusive. Currently not orderable on Plaion’s own shop.
Germany, collector: Plaion exclusive Collector’s SteelBook Edition
The best physical package of the four by some distance, and the only edition offering anything the Amazon one does not. It is also the only one you currently cannot order.
France: Les Maîtres de l’Univers 4K SteelBook
Not an exclusive. Latest of the five street dates. French and English audio.
Is importing worth it?
On price, no, and the comparison this page used to run has lost one of its two sellers. Zavvi shipped the UK steelbook to a US address for $44.99 plus $5.99, which landed at $50.98 against the $46.99 Amazon charges with free shipping. On 12 October 2026 BDO was appointed joint administrator of Zavvi, the site stopped trading the same day, and its own notice says it cannot fulfil outstanding orders or pre-orders and cannot accept returns. The edition is still stocked by HMV at £34.99 and by Amazon UK at £29.15, both in stock, but neither prints a US delivery cost on the product page, so you will not see a US total until checkout. The UK edition has no mini-comic, and its region coding is still unsettled. Import the UK or French edition because you prefer the artwork, not to save money.
The German Plaion Collector’s Edition is the only edition that offers something the Amazon one does not: a rigid slipcase box, artcards and a poster. At €59.99 before international freight it is roughly 40 percent more than the Amazon steelbook, and Plaion’s shop currently lists it as unavailable. Buy that one for the box, if and when it comes back.
One unresolved thing worth knowing before you import. Early German listings show DTS-HD MA 5.1 rather than the Dolby Atmos track on the US and UK discs. The source that reported it marked the specs as not final, so we are flagging it rather than stating it. If lossless Atmos matters to you, wait for the German specs to be confirmed.
Region coding
The US 4K Ultra HD disc is region free, so it plays on any 4K player anywhere. The 1080p Blu-ray bundled with it is Region A.
The UK edition’s region coding is still not settled, and we would rather say so than pick one. HMV lists the discs as A, B and C, and the product details on the Amazon UK listing say A, B, C too. The one contradiction left sits on that same Amazon page, whose title still carries Region B. Zavvi, the retailer that called the edition region free, stopped trading on 12 October 2026. Since the 4K disc in every edition appears to be region free, the question only affects the bundled Blu-ray. We will update this when a retailer or the studio settles it.
Frequently asked questions
How many Masters of the Universe (2026) steelbooks are there?
Five, across four territories. The United States gets an Amazon exclusive at 46.99 dollars, the United Kingdom gets a widely stocked retail edition at 34.99 pounds, Germany gets two separate editions, a standard retail steelbook at 34.99 euros and a Plaion shop exclusive Collector’s Edition at 59.99 euros, and France gets a retail edition at 34.99 euros.
Which Masters of the Universe steelbook should I buy?
If you are in the United States, the Amazon exclusive. It is the only one that includes the collectible mini-comic, it ships free, and importing any of the others costs more once shipping is added. The only edition that offers something genuinely different is the German Plaion Collector’s Edition, which adds a rigid slipcase, artcards and a poster, and it is not currently orderable.
Is the Amazon steelbook worth it over the standard 4K?
As of October 26 the standard 4K Ultra HD is 24.99 dollars, down from a 37.99 list, which puts the SteelBook 22 dollars above it rather than 9. For that you get the metal case and the mini-comic, and you wait about a week and a half longer for delivery. The discs themselves are the same film in the same 4K presentation, so it comes down to whether you want the packaging.
Does the Masters of the Universe steelbook include a mini-comic?
The US Amazon exclusive does, and it is confirmed by the Amazon MGM Studios and Alliance Home Entertainment press release rather than only by retailer copy. No other regional steelbook lists a mini-comic.
Is the steelbook region free?
The 4K Ultra HD disc in the US edition is region free, so it plays worldwide on a 4K player. The 1080p Blu-ray bundled with it is Region A. Region coding on the UK edition has not been settled by the studio, but the two retailers still selling it now agree with each other: HMV lists the discs as Region A, B and C, and the product details on the Amazon UK listing say A, B, C as well. The one contradiction left sits on that same Amazon page, whose title still carries Region B. Zavvi, which listed the edition as region free, stopped trading on 12 October 2026. We will state a region when the studio or the packaging settles it.
Is the Masters of the Universe steelbook a numbered limited edition?
No print run or numbering has been announced for any of the five editions. The phrase limited edition appears in the UK and French product titles, but no quantity has been published anywhere.
Should a US buyer import the UK steelbook?
Probably not on price, and the Zavvi price this page used to quote has gone with the retailer. Zavvi shipped the UK edition to the US for 44.99 dollars plus 5.99 dollars shipping, and Zavvi stopped trading on 12 October 2026 with its outstanding orders unfulfilled. The edition itself is still sold, at 29.15 pounds by Amazon UK and 34.99 pounds by HMV, but neither prints a US delivery cost on the product page, so you will not see a US total until checkout. Against 46.99 dollars with free shipping and a mini-comic from Amazon in the US, import the UK edition because you prefer the artwork, not to save money.
