ToysMattel's kids line gets the Subternia story too, and its He-Man carries a Power Sword that glows
Three 2027 Kid Core figures opened at Entertainment Earth on 1 November at $12.99 each. Evil-Lyn and Trap Jaw are estimated for January, He-Man for February, and every one of them comes with something that glows in the dark.
The collector lines get the lore, the character bios and the event names, and the cheap assortment on the peg at the supermarket gets four familiar faces, a weapon each and whatever the licence will bear. Forty years of Masters of the Universe plastic has mostly worked that way, and the cheap figure on the peg rarely looks like it came out of the same story as the expensive one on the shelf behind it.
Mattel opened pre-orders on a third Masters of the Universe line on Sunday morning, at the bottom of its own price list. Entertainment Earth has the 2027 Kid Core wave listed at $12.99 a figure, with a live add-to-cart control on every page rather than a notify box. The badge on all three reads new pre-orders, dated 1 November. Evil-Lyn and Trap Jaw are estimated for January, and He-Man for February. [1] Origins at $23.99 and Chronicles at $29.99 went up the same morning from the same company, and Toy Hype USA’s round-up of Sunday’s Mattel pre-orders named those two lines and left this one out. [5]
The same sentence on all three
Mattel’s own retailer description opens the same way on all three of these: the figure “lets fans new and old bring home the Battle of Subternia and the on-going struggle of good versus evil.” That is the same event the Battle for Subternia four-pack is built around, an Origins exclusive at $74.99 that fills Eternia’s underworld with ranks instead of characters. The assortment on the peg usually gets a weapon and a face; this one gets the war the $74.99 four-pack is named after. [6]
A child who picks the He-Man off a peg next spring is buying into the same war as the collector reaching past it for the four-pack.
What glows
Each figure carries one accessory that glows in the dark, and in each case it is the object the character is known by. He-Man’s is the Power Sword, and his harness and skirt armour come off. Evil-Lyn, filed in Mattel’s copy as the Evil Warrior Goddess, gets her scepter. Trap Jaw keeps the mechanical jaw and arm, but his staff fires a hook, and the hook glows in the dark!
All three are 5 1/2 inch figures with 14 movable joints, rated for ages six and up. The 2026 movie figures have been carrying those same numbers on the same pegs all year. This is that line continuing under a new banner rather than a new line starting.
Where to buy, and where you cannot
Entertainment Earth is the only place any of the three can be ordered today, and nothing is charged until the figure ships. BigBadToyStore returns nothing at all for Kid Core; its search brings back Gundam. [2] Amazon’s own search for the wave name returns 48 product cards and not one of them is a Kid Core figure, and Walmart finds nothing for the He-Man UPC. [3] Both will almost certainly carry the line, because both carry the movie figures it continues, but neither carries it yet.
There are no product pictures. Entertainment Earth’s listings show the Masters of the Universe logo where the photograph goes, one image slot each, and Toy Habits said the same thing when it ran the pre-orders. [4] Mattel has published the copy, the prices and the ship months, and has not published a photograph of any of the three. We will run them when they land.
The figure on the supermarket peg and the four-pack behind the collector’s glass are selling the same war.
Notes
- Read first hand at Entertainment Earth on 2 November 2026: item MTJPL87, Masters of the Universe 2027 Kid Core Wave 1 He-Man, $12.99, schema availability PreOrder, “Estimated to Arrive in FEBRUARY 2027”; MTJPL88 Evil-Lyn and MTJPL89 Trap Jaw, both $12.99 and both reading JANUARY 2027. All three pages carried a live “Pre-Order: Add to Cart” control and a “New Pre-Orders Nov 01” badge, and all three are filed under the collection name “Masters of the Universe Kids Line”.
- BigBadToyStore searched on 2 November 2026 for “Kid Core” and for “Kid Core Masters of the Universe”. The first returns 14 products, all of them Gundam Converge Core sets; the second returns Masters of the Universe stock with no Kid Core item in it.
- Amazon searched on 2 November 2026 for “Masters of the Universe 2027 Kid Core”: 48 result cards, zero matching “Kid Core” and zero matching “glow”, counted on the cards rather than on the page text. Walmart searched the same day on UPC 194735410415 and answered “There were no search results”.
- Toy Habits, 1 November 2026, “Battle for Subternia MOTU Core Wave 1 Preorder”: “We don’t have official product images yet.”
- Toy Hype USA, 1 November 2026, “Mattel Masters of the Universe Chronicles & Origins Figures Pre-Orders For November 1st, 2026”. The Kid Core wave is not in it.
- Mattel is using two spellings. The Origins four-pack is sold as Battle FOR Subternia, item MTJMJ24; the Kid Core copy quoted above reads Battle OF Subternia. Both are Mattel’s own words, so both stand as written.
